Over the past 8 weeks, Year 3 students have been passionate about improving their knowledge in all areas of the English language. First of all, they learned to identify and use such parts of speech as adjectives, nouns, adverbs, verbs, pronouns and conjunctions. Children learned the poetic forms, as well as poetic techniques that can be used to create them. Pupils examined the structure of visual poetry and haiku poems. Also in practice, they applied their knowledge of adjectives to create independent samples of descriptive text. Listening to music, children learned to use their imagination and emotional attitude to create descriptive compositions. They examined the structure of the narrative text and how to apply this knowledge to fully reproduce their own story.
To improve reading skills, students worked diligently using the Oxford publishing series, which was appropriate for their level. They were able to demonstrate progress in reading comprehension through the use of an individual reader's diary, where they noted what exactly they had read. Later they had the opportunity to share their results with classmates. The students demonstrated in practice the ability to work in a team, discussing their ideas in a group in class, inventing their stories, describing the characters and the place of action.
In mathematics classes, children were repeating the basics, then they learned various strategies, applying them in solving examples and problems. Pupils looked at the "number digits" and how the term is used in different areas of mathematics. Also, on the basis of the knowledge gained, they learned to compose their own tasks and games using mathematical concepts obtained in the process of learning, after which they were able to share their successes with their friends.
Children spent this memorable quarter, learning new horizons of knowledge and with practising their skills in all areas of education.
