Admission rules

Stage 1. Assessment

Meeting with a school psychologist; for children under 10, this also includes a speech and language assessment

Parents receive individual feedback and professional recommendations following the assessment.

Assessment Fee:

Moscow, Moscow Region, Saint Petersburg — ₽15,000

How the assessment works

We use our own assessment approach, designed to be supportive and age-appropriate. The process takes place in a comfortable, child-friendly format.

Specialists assess the child's: academic readiness, skills and learning profile, individual needs and strengths. This helps parents better understand their child, while enabling teachers to design an optimal learning pathway.

Stage 2. Enrollment

Seat reservation: after testing, parents complete the application forms and pay the enrollment fee.

Admission timeline: most students enroll in spring and summer. Admission during the academic year is possible subject to availability.

Stage 3. Required documents

Child's passport (from age 14) and visa - for foreign citizens;

What do our teachers say?

Stewart MacPherson

Head of Skolkovo Campus

I hope that I can use my experiences and knowledge to help my staff further develop the school to ensure our pupils have a successful and memorable time under our guidance. We pay special attention to the culture of cooperation. Our students exchange ideas, create joint projects, and develop team and leadership skills. The school has a warm atmosphere in which each child is sure that their own ideas, thoughts and talents are met with encouragement and guidance.

Mr Daniel

International Teacher, Early Years

I chose to become a teacher because I enjoy developing children and teaching new skills. I inspire students through interesting and diverse teaching methods. I find a common language with students by using humour and a fair and consistent approach.

Mr Lee

International Teacher, Primary School

I inspire my students by showing a genuine enthusiasm for the subjects I teach and relating them to real life. Positive reinforcement is key, as I strive to recognise and celebrate the achievements and progress made by children. Every child is unique and must learn to compete with themselves as opposed to each other. Trying your best is what matters, as opposed to coming top of the class in every subject.

Mr Peter

International Teacher, History

I believe the teacher, in order to be successful, ought to have high expectations of his pupils and be able to inspire enthusiasm for the subject being taught. Furthermore, pupils should be encouraged to think for themselves and to form opinions and make judgements based on evidence, rather than being told what to think.

Mr Philip

International Teacher, Early Years

To get students excited about learning, I tell interesting stories related to the lesson and my past experiences and show my own excitement about the subject. To connect with my students, I use humour and tell jokes they can relate to as well as talk about popular movies, music, or games they like.

Ms Rizma

International Teacher, Computer Science

My experience as a co-founder of an IT company enriches my ability to connect theoretical knowledge with practical, real-world applications, making learning more relevant and engaging. I am passionate about my profession because it allows me to continuously innovate and inspire students by bridging the gap between technology and business. My approach to finding common ground with students involves understanding their unique backgrounds and interests, which helps in creating a more engaging and supportive learning environment.

Ms Hannah

International Teacher, Early Years

I gain great pride myself when my students do well, try to bring a fun outlook on teaching different subjects, using as many materials as possible and using them in new ways. I plan around the children and take an individual approach, making sure every child has an equal opportunity to learn to the best of their abilities.

Mr Wolfaardt

International Teacher, Science

I chose teaching to inspire young minds and share my passion for science. I engage students with hands-on experiments and real-world applications of scientific concepts. I build rapport with students by being approachable, patient, and understanding their individual needs. My creativity helps me design exciting lessons that capture students' imagination.

Mr Marcus

International teacher, Business studies teacher

My job is to explain to students how the world works. Getting them interested in my subject starts with me getting to know them as individuals, and by building strong relationships with them. In our Business lessons we discuss how other entrepreneurs started businesses and created products that changed the world. Many of my student soon realise that they can be the leaders of the future.

Mr Oliver

International Teacher, Science

Through hands-on experiments, interactive activities, and engaging resources, my aim is to establish a lively and engaging learning environment that promotes active involvement and critical thinking. To establish a connection with my students, I strive to build strong relationships based on trust, respect, and empathy. I take the time to listen to their questions, ambitions, and interests, and adjust my teaching approach to suit their specific needs and learning styles. By demonstrating genuine care and understanding, I create a secure and supportive atmosphere where students feel at ease expressing themselves and exploring new ideas.

Mr Steven

International Teacher, Mathematics

The most vital part of building society is inspiring our youth to become lifelong learners and explore the world around us. I love to tell stories and give puzzles, prompt students to ask questions and be curious. Students need to be able to relate to the materials and concepts, the best way is through plenty of practice and a hands on approach, if they are asking the right questions, then they are on the right track.

Mr Tim

International Teacher, Drama and English

I believe strongly in a values-based education and feel that my subject of Drama lends itself to the development of the whole child. In my classroom I strive to make Drama a fun, engaging and challenging subject that develops skills that my students will use for the rest of their lives. I feel that my classes encourage tolerance, respect for differences and student self-awareness and confidence.

Frequently asked questions

How relevant is international education today?

International education defines a global standard of education adopted in many countries (about 140 for the Cambridge program). It is aimed not only at obtaining academic knowledge, but also at developing relevant skills that help students be successful in further education and careers, both in their own country and abroad.

What is the curriculum at school?

Our school offers two programs at once: Cambridge and Russian. In the process of studying subjects in two languages, students develop their thinking, since the programs suggest different approaches. Thus, "British" physics gives a deep understanding of any phenomena, and "Russian" - the ability to work with formulas and solve problems.

Graduates receive two documents: a Russian certificate and an A-level certificate

Stories of our students: cisedu.com

In what language is the teaching conducted?

Teaching according to the Cambridge program is conducted in English by foreign teachers. Lessons according to the Russian program are conducted in Russian by the relevant specialists.

Is it possible to enroll in your school in the middle of the academic year?

Yes, you can join as long as there are places in the class. Programs are adapted for a child to join during the school year.

What additional activities do you have?

It varies depending on the campus, but we always try to take into account the interests of each family.

The following areas are traditionally implemented:

  • creative (ceramics, beadwork, fun crafts),
  • musical (piano, vocals, guitar)
  • sports (hockey, figure skating, martial arts, basketball, football, yoga, table tennis, chess),
  • technical (robotics, programming, electronics)
  • humanities (English, French, Chinese, book club, Russian literature club).

How many children are in the class?

No more than 18 or 20 people depending on age group (may vary by campus)

Is there homework at school?

There is homework, its volume depends on the class, and the time it takes to complete it depends on the current level of knowledge of the student. Parents always have access to detailed information regarding homework, as well as to recommendations from teachers.

What if a child gets sick at school?

There is a medical professional on site throughout the school day on each campus who can be contacted if any questions or concerns arise regarding health. If a child shows symptoms of illness, we will contact the parents. If there is reason to believe that the illness is viral, then before upon the parents' arrival, the student will be in the medical office.

How does admission to your school work?

Enrollment is based on the results of testing, the composition of which varies depending on age:

  • interview with a teacher-psychologist (mandatory for a child of any age)
  • interview with a speech development specialist
  • interview with a Cambridge program teacher
  • tests on the subject (English, mathematics)

What age are the children?

From 2 to 18 years old (varies depending on the campus). We have an Early Years programm and a full-cycle school. You can find out about the availability of graduating classes and nursery groups, as well as reserve a place in the class in Telegram or WhatsApp

What universities do your graduates enter?

In the Russian Federation: Moscow State University, Higher School of Economics, RANEPA, MGIMO, Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, etc.

Abroad: Oxford Brookes University, British Higher School of Art and Design, University of Amsterdam, University of Manchster, New York Institute of Technology University of Westminster, etc.

How long does a child stay at school?

The main academic program lasts on average from 8:30 to 15:40 (times may vary depending on the age of the students). After this, there are elective classes. The campuses also operate extended day groups until 17:30.

Are additional classes included in the price?

Some classes are included in the price, some are paid separately.

What is included in the cost of training, and what is paid additionally?

The cost of education includes:

  • Cambridge program
  • lessons according to the Russian program
  • four meals a day,
  • educational materials, manuals, stationery
  • some optional classes,
  • extended day group,
  • participation in school events.

Is there an after-school program?

After the main program ends at 3:40 p.m., children can attend elective classes or stay in an extended day group (check with the specific campus for availability for a specific age group).

My two children attend this excellent school. We've never had a better one. Before this, we attended the President School, but no other school in Moscow or the Moscow region can compare. The teaching staff is exceptional, with an individualized approach to each child. Small classes. I especially want to emphasize balanced nutrition. I recommend it to everyone, and a huge thank you to the principal and all the teachers.

My experience allows me to speak confidently only about the kindergarten at this school. And it's excellent. In three terms, my child has picked up a lot of words, learned his letters, started reading a little in both Russian and English, and started counting. The number of crafts and drawings he brings home from kindergarten is incalculable. The small family-friendly format is also ideal for young children. The small kindergarten group, combined with interaction with older children at clubs and various events, is, in my opinion, the optimal combination, providing a child with attention and care, as well as experience with communication and socialization. Everyone is very friendly and comfortable. If all these features aren't necessary, it's better to choose a different campus or a different school altogether. And for children 12+ who aren't introverted, I would probably also choose a more dynamic place. The school is wonderful. The teachers are very good and kind. Everything is top-notch. We're in our second year there and we don't regret it at all. It's worth the money.

An excellent school with wonderful teachers and staff. They pay close attention to each child. They help them settle in, help them discover their talents, teach them how to study, and if there are any gaps in their knowledge, they help fill them. The child is very interested and comfortable in learning. There are various clubs for children, sports and cultural events, open lessons and days, and the school is filled with a huge number of interesting events. There is definitely no routine here. The Cambridge curriculum goes hand in hand with the Russian one, and this is very important, as the child has more opportunities. We really like the Moscow campus.

We carefully selected a school for our youngest daughter because we were moving to Moscow. We looked at several Moscow schools in the same program, and when we came for an interview at the Festivalnaya campus, we immediately fell in love and were never disappointed. This school turned out to be a true family for us! Caring, welcoming, friendly, and caring about each student as if they were our own! The atmosphere is friendly and positive! It's a shame this campus only runs through Year 9. In Year 10, we transferred to a different campus, and they actively helped us choose the right one, offered advice, and were fully involved in the process. They don't abandon their students here and support them at every stage. We are very grateful to the school for everything! To the entire staff!

An excellent school with a cozy and pleasant atmosphere, the children (students) enjoy attending. The teachers are wonderful: very attentive, friendly, and responsible. The children quickly integrate into the school atmosphere, and communication and interaction between classes is well-organized. We've been attending the school since he was three years old. Our child is happy.

For our family, the school environment and our relationship with our children are key! We constantly work with our children at home and check their homework. We can't do without it in the early stages. The school provides resources and a lively foreign language, and we simply support them. But being there for our children when they're stressed out at school, offering advice, a hug, or comfort—we can't help but love them. The teachers and staff do a tremendous job! They cultivate their curiosity and motivate them to learn every day. Isn't that wonderful, my friends? I know every day what my children have been doing and how successful they are. We feel like we're part of a big, close-knit family here! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

My child attends kindergarten here. After three months, he started initiating conversations in English at home and outside, with simple phrases so far, but I'm very happy about that. I like the wide variety of activities, starting from 3:20 PM to 5:00 PM. You can find the right ones based on your child's interests. There are both paid and free ones for this time. And you don't have to transport them anywhere. The kindergarten is constantly full of activities. They draw, create, dig in the dirt, and build. There's never a moment of boredom. Once a week, there's an assembly where the entire elementary school gets together to discuss a common topic. Parents receive photos and videos throughout the day. The staff and teachers are friendly. The menu is delicious. The buildings are well-equipped and the classrooms are well-equipped. There's a large, covered outdoor playground with swings, a carousel, etc. I don't think there's a pool. There's little bureaucracy. Many issues can be resolved remotely via Telegram =) There's good, large parking at the kindergarten. I like it. That you don't have to bring a child. Change clothes and all that. You just drop them off at the gate. On the downside, the environment is more Russian-speaking: there aren't many foreigners. But where there are a lot of foreigners, the price is higher—if not at the preschool, then definitely at the school. So overall, I recommend the preschool at this school.

We went to school on the recommendation of friends. We transferred from another school due to my husband's job change. We studied in person until March, then switched to online learning due to the quarantine. Our child has been attending happily all year, and there were no difficulties convincing him to go. The teachers are very attentive. The learning process is well-structured, and most importantly, there is always the opportunity to talk with the teacher and the principal. Special thanks for the community atmosphere – they explain everything and offer helpful tips. There is a lot of English, but I want to learn more.

I joined CIS after Year 9 when I realized I wanted to study abroad. At the same time, I knew my English was not yet strong enough. It was important for me to study at an international school where I could improve my language skills and adapt to a new system. I considered different schools, but CIS suited me best. Here you can study two programs at once - international and Russian. That was important not only to me but also to my parents: they wanted me to keep the knowledge I gained over nine years in a Russian school.

My curiosity helps me a lot, and it grew thanks to the teachers at CIS. Even in primary school, in Science lessons we did not just learn theory - we explored how things work: we studied volcanoes and the human body and did experiments. History was exciting too - we built Egyptian pyramids from sugar cubes, the Great Wall of China from cardboard cards, and Viking houses from wine corks. It was not only useful, but also a lot of fun.

I want to study biomedical engineering - to create technologies that help people with disabilities live fuller lives. School has helped me prepare for this path. A big advantage at CIS is the two programs, which approach the same subjects in different ways and complement each other. For example, in the international physics course we focused on understanding why phenomena happen. In the Russian program we worked with formulas and problem solving. A good example is heat transfer: in international lessons we explored convection, conduction, and radiation in depth, while in Russian lessons we calculated how much thermal energy an object can gain or lose. Together this built a complete picture that really helps in further study.
