This month at CIS Skolkovo campus the children in EYFS and KS1 had a wonderful time celebrating Russian Week. All the children enjoyed traditional Russian stories such as Baba Yaga and took part in many other activities including a Russian musical concert and a traditional puppet theatre show which the children enjoyed immensely. The nursery children made colourful kokoshnik hats and found out about St. Basil. Reception children learnt a traditional Russian dance and showed it in assembly. Year 1 children learnt many facts about Russia and painted beautiful folk art gorodets horses and even a large samovar. In Year 2 the children made traditional clay figurines of people or animals and made and decorated gingerbread cookies. On Friday the week culminated in a Winter Family Activity Day and all the children were able to go outside and take part in traditional Russian games, activities and general fun. The children learnt a great deal about Russia but they also enjoyed themselves a great deal too.
This week, the school bell sounded, traditionally opening the new academic year. The guys went to the first classes, where they showed imagination and told each other about themselves with the help of bright drawings.
