Mr Joshua

Country:

South Africa

Education:

University of South Africa (UNISA) – BCOM specialising in Industrial and Organisational Psychology -- University of Derby – iPGCE (in progress, 2025)

Work experience:
I came to Russia in February 2012 and began by teaching Business English and ESL. Since 2017, I have been working full-time in international schools, teaching Early Years and Primary using the Development Matters framework and the Cambridge Curriculum. This experience has given me a strong foundation in supporting multilingual learners and creating engaging, inquiry-based learning environments.

What makes you a good teacher?
I chose teaching because I believe the foundation years are the most important for inspiring curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning. I bring creativity and enthusiasm into every lesson, making learning playful, meaningful, and engaging. I find a common language with students by listening carefully, showing empathy and respect, and creating a positive classroom environment where every child feels valued. By encouraging inquiry, imagination, and expression, I inspire children to grow as confident, curious learners.

Achievements:
I am most proud of the lasting relationships I have built with students and families, and the positive impact I have made on children’s confidence and growth in learning. Watching students thrive under my guidance is my most meaningful achievement.

Lifestyle:
I enjoy skiing during the winter months as a way to stay active and connect with nature. I also enjoy travelling and exploring new cultures. Memorable road trips across Russia have deepened my appreciation of the country’s landscapes and traditions. A strong love for travel and cultural exchange enriches both my personal life and my teaching.

Dreams & Ambitions:
My ambition is to continue growing as an educator, developing innovative approaches that support multilingual learners through play and inquiry. I dream of making a lasting impact in the field of education by inspiring children to become lifelong learners who are confident, curious, and compassionate.
