Celebrating the Chinese Lunar New Year in CIS Saint Petersburg

On February 25, our school hosted a vibrant and memorable event dedicated to the Chinese Lunar New Year. The celebration served as a true bridge between cultures, bringing together students, teachers, and guests in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual respect.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude for the support and assistance provided by:

the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Saint Petersburg;

the Confucius Cultural Centre.

The event programme was rich and diverse. Participants had the opportunity to immerse themselves in Chinese traditions through a range of creative activities and games:

Chinese calligraphy workshops.

Under the guidance of experienced instructors, students tried their hand at writing Chinese characters, learning about their meanings and symbolism.

Paper‑cutting art (Jianzhi*).

Children created festive decorations, incorporating traditional Chinese motifs. The resulting works were truly distinctive and festive.

Traditional Chinese dances.

Our school’s students showcased the grace and beauty of Eastern dance traditions. With their colourful costumes and polished movements, the performers left the audience with unforgettable impressions.

Outdoor and indoor games.

 Fun and energetic games brought together participants of all ages, filling the hall with laughter and vitality.

Events like this are an important part of international education. They allow students not only to learn about other countries’ cultures, but also to develop intercultural communication skills, learn to appreciate the diversity of traditions, and strengthen friendly ties.

We thank everyone who took part in organising and running the festival! May the coming year be just as bright, productive, and full of new discoveries!
