London has not always been the capital of England

It turns out that London has not always been the capital of England. Oxford held this title during the Civil War between 1642 and 1646!

Well, Oxford is kind of snobby! And the word “snob” actually originated here, in Oxford. It comes and abbreviates from the Latin phrase “sine nobilitate” which means “without nobility”.
