The history of CIS

Cambridge International School was founded in Moscow and St. Petersburg in 2015 and quickly took the position of one of the leading educational organizations.

In 2019, we opened new campuses: CIS Gorki in the Moscow region and CIS Tashkent in Tashkent.

In all our branches, students have been fluent in two languages since childhood, defend their point of view in international debates, develop engineering projects, make films and do charity work. At the same time, they study the subjects necessary for their professional path in depth and immerse themselves in the history of Russia with interest.

We pay great attention to lessons where we tell children about the achievements of Russian science and culture. We inspire students for a great future in which they will become outstanding scientists and make a significant contribution to the development of their native country. Helping children inherit the best traditions of their predecessors and show their talents to solve modern problems is one of our primary goals.

And we believe that the experience of international cooperation, access to world knowledge and a busy school life will help them in this!

In this article, we would like to tell you about the history of two educational approaches — Cambridge and Russian. They seem incompatible, although in fact they complement each other perfectly. By learning about how they have developed, you will better understand what lies at the heart of our learning.

The development of Cambridge Education

The Cambridge education system has deep roots going back more than 160 years, when the University of Cambridge created a "Syndicate of Local Exams". The aim of this initiative was to raise the level of education among those who did not have the opportunity to study at the university. The participants of the initiative conducted exams among the local population. And since 1864, they have been brought to the international level.

In 2021, an important reform took place: a new organization was formed — the University of Cambridge: Publishing House and Educational System. This association began to engage in major academic research and organize training around the world.

One of the key features of the Cambridge system is its focus on intercultural interaction. Its goal is to educate a person with a global mindset. The children who study under this program focus on the economic, political and socio-cultural characteristics of the countries of the world. Thanks to this, young minds become more aware of the interconnectedness of all aspects of human life.

The Cambridge learning system also focuses on continuous learning and self-improvement. Teachers strive to unlock the inner potential of each student and show them the importance of humanistic values such as openness, mutual respect and honesty. At the same time, teachers understand that modern technologies play an important role in the life of society, and therefore inspire students to develop their own innovative projects.

Development of Russian education

The history of secular education in Russia dates back to the time of Peter the Great's reforms, that is, from the beginning of the XVIII century. At that time, many educational institutions were founded, such as St. Petersburg University, navigation school, architectural school, garrison school, the first Russian gymnasium and others. In them, representatives of the upper classes studied mathematics and natural sciences in depth, received advanced European knowledge in the field of military and maritime affairs and used them for the development of their native country.

With the advent of Soviet power, education became generally available. The main focus was on the elimination of illiteracy and the spread of mass education. Teachers instilled hard work, responsibility, and strict discipline in children. As a result of this approach, every Soviet person was well versed in all subjects and could easily keep up a conversation on any topic. At the same time, the employees at the enterprises were masters of their craft and had a high level of qualification.

Today, the goal of Russian education remains to ensure equal access to educational resources for all citizens, regardless of their social status, region of residence and other factors. The focus is on the intellectual, cultural and moral development of the individual. All children, without exception, receive the skills necessary for comfortable socialization and successful career growth.

Nowadays, Russian education is heading for career guidance. Now children have the opportunity to devote a lot of time to their favorite subjects, and for the rest — to gain knowledge that will be useful in everyday life. This helps students focus on preparing for university and their personal professional path. It also increases their competitiveness and keeps them motivated to achieve their goals.
