The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is a book that tells us a story that takes place during World War II and follows 9-year-old Bruno in Germany. When Bruno’s father gets a new job, Bruno must get used to his new surroundings in a strange place. Bruno lives near a concentration camp, where he meets a new friend, another young boy named Shmuel. A friendship quickly forms between the two. The problem is that while Bruno lives on one side of the fence, Shmuel lives on the other.
I recommend this book to read, but be careful because this book is full of tragedy. I would rate this book 4.4 out of 5 stars because in some rarely moments the boy in the striped pyjamas is a little bit boring. I think a student starting in year 6 or 7 can read it because it has some serious parts, the vocabulary is a little difficult, and sometimes the characters talk a lot.
