What an incredible start to the school year!
The Reception Robins class has blasted off in their learning. Every morning, the students have come to school eager to discover more about the topics we have been covering.
In Phonics and Literacy, we have been learning the first three letter sound sets using the Jolly Phonics program. The children have started to segment sounds and have been blending them to make simple words. Some of our students have shown remarkable progress and have even started reading Oxford Reading Tree books with Biff, Chip and Kipper.
Tremendous effort from our little ones!
In Maths, we have been learning to recognise and count numbers 1-20 and back. The students have also been measuring capacity by filling different containers with water, millet and pasta to demonstrate full, nearly full, half full, nearly empty and empty!
Our topics in Understanding the World have been Ourselves, Our Family, Our Home, Respect and Kindness. The students very sensible brainstormed what they thought were reasonable class rules. You can see these on display in our classroom. Also, don't miss a display of our excellent work right outside our classroom!
Keep up the great work and team effort, Reception Robins!
