Welcome letter from Skolkovo Primary Headteacher Tim Aviss

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to CIS Russia, Skolkovo Campus for the Academic Year 2018-19. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome any and all new parents to our ‘educational family’.

Last year we spent a lot of time looking at ways to improve our practice and continue to provide a high class and effective education for your children. To this end staff have been working hard for the past 2 weeks and have taken part in professional development delivered by high quality and experienced lecturers and experts from the UK. Making sure we are following the best educational practices. I am sure you will join me in welcoming back returning staff and our new teachers, who are eager to experience all the wonderful sights, and rich cultural heritage of Moscow and who are already experiencing the warm welcome and hospitality of the Russian people.

I am looking forward to seeing familiar faces and to welcoming in person those of you who are new. The first opportunity for this will be this Friday, 31st August, when there will be an open day. This will consist of activities in class from 1000 - 1100, and again at 1300 - 1400. The sessions will be the same so you can choose either. You will be able to meet and introduce yourself and your children to their new teacher and ask any questions. Then on Monday, 3 September there will be the traditional opening ceremony and welcome followed by activities and a barbecue, as this will be busy we would suggest arriving around 0900 for the 1000 start, with the event finishing around 1300. Later on in September we will have evenings to explain the curriculum and inform you of what the children will be studying over the year and give more detailed information relevant to each class.

More information about these evenings will be sent out soon.

Once again welcome back and I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible over the next few weeks.

Best wishes

Mr Tim Aviss
