Why Aspiration is our ‘Value of The Month’?

“A noble man compares and estimates himself by an idea which is higher than himself; and a mean man, by one lower than himself. The one produces aspiration; the other ambition.” Marcus Aurelius (Roman Emperor, circa 2nd Century AD)

It is as true today as it was nearly 2000 years ago. Here at CIS, we want our students to aspire to greatness. Greatness can take many forms and we need to take the many necessary little steps to get there: to dress correctly, to always try our best, to be friendly in play and comforting when times are hard. We aspire to be better people, true internationalists who consider others before themselves.

The CIS student strives to be a better version of themselves – every day. We want our children and staff, during ‘Aspiration’ month, to focus on how they can improve; to set themselves realistic goals for the year and make achievable plans to help reach them. After all, the power a person derives comes not from the position he or she occupies but from a clear sense of direction and the aspiration to get there.
